Masjid Agung
      Masjid Agung was originally called Masjid Sultan. Masjid Agung was founded by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I, known also by Jayo Wikramo (reigned 1724-1758)
 
        
     Masjid Agung is the older masjid and very important in Palembang. This masjid is about 278 years. Masjid Agung and Ampera Bridge has become a land mark the city until now. The figure of the Great Masjid in the center of Palembang is an increasingly crowded and chaotic.This masjid is the msot beautiful and largest in the archipelago with typical architecture of the pyramid roof. This masjid was built by architects of Europe and the material imported from abroad. the typical architecture blend chinese architecture and engneering from the west. For the first time, the size of this masjid building was originally constructed area of 1080 square meters with a capacity of 1200 workshipers.
       The main of building is staircase of three pyramid-shaped. Staircase shape influenced the basic form of Hindu-Javanese temple, then Demak Masjid Wali Songo established, spreading Islam in Java.
