Merogan Mosque & Lawang Kidul Mosque
Both mosque were constructed reatively at the time in 1310
by Kyai Merogan (Mgs H. Abdul hamid bin Mgs Mahmud) on personal expense. The
two mosque have the same shapes. As a Moslem leader with future vision, he
build the mosque and wrote a statement “Najar Mujai Lillahi Ta’ala,” dated on 6
Syawal 1310. Masjid Ki Marogan lies on the side of Ogan River, Kecamatan
Kertapati, whereas lawang kidul mosque is on the side of Musi River, Seberang
Ilir Kelurahan 5 Ilir. Thought the founder of the mosque has long passed away,
many people visit the mosque,particulary Masjid Ki Merogan because Kyai Merogan
was buried there. The place is believed to be sacret. There are several
interesting accounts about him when he was still alive.

STRORY ABOUT ORPHANS
One day when he was studying in
Mecco he said that he would be back to indonesia and take care prphans. Actually,
what he really meant was taking care the two mosque.
B.
STORY ABOUT FISH
A fish trander from OKI brought some fish to
be sold in the fish market in palembang. Nearing Palembang, he saw that his
fish were dead and he realized he would suffer the loss because of it.
Sunddently he remembered the fame
of Ki Merogan, so he rowed his boat to the Mosque to meet and ask Ki Merogan
for some advice. Upon his arrival to the place and before he had a chance to
say a word, Ki Merogan greeted and told him not to worry about his fish. God
willing, your fish are still alive. Sell them to the market and take care of
your family well”. The fish trader got back to his boat and surprisingly found
that his fish were still alive.
C.
RECITATION OF KI MEROGAN
He uniquely taught recitation to his students on the boat
while they were going to Lawang Kidul Mosque. He asked his students to recite
repeatedly. The people hearing the recitation were usualy aware that Ki Merogan
and his students were passing by.
